You may know who Ryan Kwanten is if you watch True Blood. His show alias is Jason Stackhouse, who is an incredibly well built character. Ryan is extremely defined. He is in fantastic physical condition.
Ryan Did Not Get His Physique in a Gym
Ryan Kwanten is a 32 year-old native of Australia and used to compete in Triathlons as well as boxing. Sports seem to create more of a beach body effect, compared to gym workouts alone. Ryan boxed in the welterweight division from age 13 to 15 and won the state championship.
What Does Ryan Kwanten Do Today?
Now residing in LA, Ryan doesn’t participate in Triathlons. His workouts largely consist of body weight exercises: push ups, pull ups, sit ups, etc. For variety he jumps rope and does interval training. The body-conscious men and women of Hollywood have embraced this process of body weight work and intervals. Ryan also has competed and won the biathlon in LA in 2006 and 2007.

Ryan eats a “paleo diet” based around protein and vegetables with few refined grains and carbs if he needs to get extra lean for a special scene. He claims that he only needs to do this for 2-3 days leading up to a special event. Reducing his carbohydrate intake stabilizes his insulin level. Stable insulin levels are the key to burning body fat around the clock, since when insulin is high the body cannot use fat for energy.
Doing Cardio in Nature For Even More Fat Burning
Ryan stays away from immobile bikes and treadmills to do cardio. He much more enjoys running trails or along a beach in the out doors. Variable resistance is a huge key which keeps his body guessing. This can boost the fat burning properties of the exercise.
The essence of Ryan Kwanten’s workout seems to be a mix of interval training, body weight workouts, and a strict diet. This “getting fit without going to a gym” seems to be a growing trend with many of the Actors and Actresses in Hollywood.
